Headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, Women Leaders in Sports is a leadership organization dedicated to developing, connecting, and advancing women working in sports and beyond. Women Leaders currently serves more than 4,500 members representing 600+ institutions and organizations nationwide.  

We provide women connection, confidence, and a path to leadership by: 

  1. Training and mentoring women through our world-class leadership programs and events. 
  2. Aggregating and sharing research on industry hiring trends to fast-track women’s ability to get into searches and get hired. 
  3. Championing women leaders by promoting their success through awards and media. 
  4. Educating, engaging, and challenging industry leaders to make more diverse & equitable hires. 
  5. Creating opportunities for connection so that women have a powerful network to support them on their career journey. 

Women Leaders is seeking applicants for a Leadership Programming & Events Junior Associate at its national headquarters in the lively Crossroads District of Kansas City. This is a full-time, In-person 12-month, paid position, beginning immediately with an annual salary of $30,000 plus 401K benefits with employer match. Junior Associate responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:  

Leadership Programming and Event Coordination 

  • Reporting to the Deputy Director of Leadership Development & Events, this position will support all leadership and event initiatives. 
  • Assist with virtual and in-person events/programming 
  • Prepare, pack, and ship items for off-site events  
  • Generate and send surveys to event participants; collect responses and organize information to be shared with the Women Leaders team  
  • Assist with the Leadership Programming Coordinator and National Events Manager with execution and coordination of all leadership programming including but not limited to: Women’s Leadership Symposium; Institute for Advancement; National Convention, etc.  
  • Assist with managing Women Leaders committees/circles (i.e., Education Committee, Executive Level Circle) 
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Membership JA contribute to the Rising Stars Circle 
  • Assist with member advancement tracking  
  • Sort and manage inventory of event items and gifts  
  • Assist with the execution of various Women Leaders National Convention projects  
  • Other special projects and event support, as needed  

Internal Operations:  

  • Day-to-day administrative tasks, including answering emails, support membership, collaborate with Women Leaders’ Staff, and general office support  
  • Printings/mailings  
  • Other tasks, as assigned  

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree required  
  • Demonstrated interest and knowledge working within the sports industry and women's leadership  
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills  
  • Excellent organizational skills with proven attention to detail  
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment  
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills  
  • Additional desirable skills: Creative Services (i.e. Canva and Spotify)  
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
