developing, connecting, advancing, and championing women working and leading in sports. Women 
Leaders currently serves over 6,000 members representing 600+ institutions, sports teams, and sports 
businesses nationwide.

Women Leaders in Sports provides women with connection, confidence, and a path to leadership by:

Women Leaders is currently looking for a dynamic Director of Member Engagement and Relations to join 
its energetic and collaborative team located in Kansas City, Missouri. This is a full-time, in-office position 
that collaborates across all areas of the organization to serve our members at the highest level. The Director
of Member Engagement and Relations will lead the implementation of a comprehensive membership 
recruitment, retention and engagement plan for the organization, representing Women Leaders to members 
and broadly across the industry while supporting all revenue-generating efforts across the organization.

General Responsibilities: 

  • Under the direction of the Executive Team, lead the recruitment and retention of members to 
    support annual revenue goals.
  • Deepen and expand member relations through innovative engagement opportunities and benefits to 
    maximize organizational impact.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Women Leaders in Sports, representing the organization at industry 
    events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote membership and educate current 
    and prospective members about organizational offerings and initiatives.
  • Work across the organization to support member engagement and/or sales efforts in all areas,
    including:
    • Member servicing
    • Leadership programming and experiences (in-person and virtual)
    • National Convention
    • Job Board Postings
    • Awards and scholarships
    • Consulting services 
  • Oversee and direct initiatives and programs to maximize member engagement, including, but not 
    limited to:
    • Member Circles and Communities
    • Donor Relations
    • Various virtual education and development sessions
    • Member Happy Hour events
    • Career advancement initiatives and processes including the Women Leaders job board for 
      job seekers and hirers.
  • Support fundraising initiatives and donor relations
  • Serve as a liaison to partner and affiliate organizations.
  • Work collaboratively with the marketing and communications team to promote the membership 
    value, programs, and services.
  • Engage and connect with members through social media and community platforms.
  • Work closely with the Chief Experience Officer on leadership experiences to recruit participants and 
    develop programming.
  • Serves as staff liaison for Women Leaders Membership Engagement Committee and Awards 
    Committee
  • Oversee a full-time Membership Engagement Junior Associate

Experience, Qualities, and Skills Needed for the Role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five years of professional experience in a role focused on 
    engaging and connecting with people.
  • Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to project professional competence, leadership 
    capability, and personal maturity.
  • Previous involvement and knowledge of Women Leaders in Sports and all sectors of the sports 
    industry. This may include current and past members who are/were actively engaged in the 
    organization’s programs and services.
  • Demonstrated passion and ability to foster relationships with a diverse group of people
  • A passion for women’s leadership and career advancement.
  • Demonstrated success operating independently as well as be part of a team, and ability to balance 
    multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment (and we mean FAST!)
  • An over-communicator who knows how to close the loop and thrives in a role that requires high 
    levels of collaboration and interaction with other people.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with a proven attention to detail and standard 
    of excellence.
  • Strong computer skills required in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) and Zoom 
    platforms
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills.
  • An ability to flex and pivot across several projects that require different ways of thinking and working
  • Highly coachable and hungry for feedback to get better and excel in the role.
  • An optimist who sees challenges as opportunities and believes everything is “figure-out-able”.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience; benefits package including medical, dental, and vision 
insurance. 401k with employer match.
