Salary Range (commensurate with experience): $90,000-110,000 / Annual Salary
Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.

The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA) aims to develop student-athletes academically, socially, and athletically while boosting UIC’s national athletic profile. In the spirit of Chicago’s rich sports culture, the DIA recruits diverse, high-performing student-athletes and strives for excellence in competition, academics, and sportsmanship across its 18 Division I teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with Athletics leadership to shape and implement HR goals that align with strategic and operational priorities.
Oversee day-to-day HR operations, supervising a small team to ensure timely and accurate services.
Provide expert consultation to senior leaders, staff, and coaches in areas such as employee relations, recruitment, compensation, training, and performance management.
Ensure compliance with university policies and employment regulations through strong partnerships with campus HR, Legal Counsel, and other key offices.
Manage hiring, onboarding, contracts (including multi-year coaching agreements), and HR transactions across diverse employee classifications.
Lead initiatives in employee engagement, training, and professional development to foster an inclusive, high-performing workplace.
Track HR metrics and utilize data to drive continuous improvement and strategic decisions.
This position plays a vital role in supporting student-athletes' success by ensuring strong HR infrastructure for the coaches, staff, and administrators who serve them.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of progressive HR experience.
Supervisory experience.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a high level of discretion.
Attention to detail.
Strong critical-thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to identify organizational and business needs and drive continuous improvements.
Excellent organization, administrative, and project management skills to prioritize and address multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a public academic institution.
Extensive knowledge of principles and procedures used in human resources.
Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and/or regulations affecting public human resources administration. Ability to develop a broad understanding of those of UIC.
Skill in reviewing and formulating/revising human resources policies and procedures.
Ability to exercise control over the implementation of the policies and procedures.
Ability to organize human resources operations within the area(s) and coordinate them with other organizational units.
