Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance

Summary of Job Duties:

The Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance will be responsible for managing and enforcing all compliance aspects of NCAA, Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association, and University of Arkansas – Fort Smith rules for all UAFS intercollegiate sport programs. This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics.


Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Work Experience: Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree. Verifiable NCAA compliance experience or relative compliance experience. Valid driver’s license required.  

Preferred Education and/or Work Experience: Preferred Master’s in applicable field.  Experience working in intercollegiate athletics with NCAA Applications, including the Academic Portal, Compliance Assistant 2.0, NCAA Transfer Portal, Eligibility Center, and LSDBi.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Implement and uphold policies and procedures to ensure institutional control for all    intercollegiate sport programs. Enforce and continually review compliance processes through various database systems: eg: Teamworks, NCAA Apps, Compliance Assistant and Workday.

  • Work in conjunction with faculty athletic representative, registrar office and office of the provost to ensure academic compliance: financial aid, progress towards degree and eligibility.

  • Work directly with financial aid, admissions, housing, advising and business center on ensuring compliance. Monitor Financial Aid documentation and ensure award accuracy.

  • Monitor playing and practice season legislation. Develop and submit all NCAA required reports.

  • Monitor institutional recruiting systems, coach recruiting activities, and act as a liaison in the process of admitting incoming student-athletes and certifying their eligibility.

  • Oversee all Name Image and Likeness (NIL) compliance and processes

  • Provide ongoing rules education to athletic department, financial aid and advising staff

  • Research and provide guidance on current, new and proposed NCAA and MIAA rules and regulations. Manage all waiver requests, appeals, reviews and audits.

  • Serve as game day administrator: oversight for all home athletic events.

  • Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by prioritizing teamwork, creating and maintaining a caring and service-related culture and by providing leadership to student-athletes, coaches and staff.

  • Active role in the development of student athletes through Student Athletic Advisory Committee.

  • Travel to postseason competitions

Other Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Mandatory presence at all home events

  • Attend university events as athletic representative

  • Serve as athletic representative on institutional committees.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Relationships: Work in a dynamic team of diverse faculty, staff, and students in a fast paced, growth-oriented collegiate environment. Frequent contact required with coaches, boosters, personnel from other agencies and institutions, and the general public.

List Employees Supervised: Coaching and support staff. Student workers and outside vendors.  

Special Job Dimensions: Work performed primarily in an indoor setting. Extended hours required. Work is performed during normal business hours and will include substantial evening and weekend hours and requires occasional travel to conference and NCAA meetings and secondary driver for team travel.  Valid driver’s license required. 

Background Check Requirements. Criminal Background Check and Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR) Check. Position requires employee complete Arkansas Mandated Reporter training prior to employment.
