Assistant Athletic Director

Position Summary

The Assistant Athletic Director reports to the Athletic Director and plays a key leadership role in the administration of the Fighting Tigers' NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletics program. Working closely with the Athletic Director, this position provides direct oversight of NCAA and conference compliance, supervision of two to four select coaches/sports and coordinator of camps/clinics, academic support for student-athletes, and recruiting regulations. The Assistant AD collaborates with coaches, staff, faculty, and campus partners to ensure the holistic success of student-athletes while upholding institutional values and NCAA Division III philosophy.

Primary Responsibilities

Supervision & Leadership

  • Supervise assigned coaches/sports and, based on experience, and camps/clinics supervision/coordination. 

  • Mentor and support professional staff and student staff.

  • With the Athletic Director, contribute to the long-term strategic planning for athletics, including student-athlete experience, DEI initiatives, and departmental growth.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Serve as the primary contact for NCAA and conference compliance.

  • Manage all compliance functions including eligibility, roster management, rules education, and reporting requirements.

  • Develop and deliver regular compliance education for coaches, staff, and student-athletes.

Academic Oversight

  • Coordinate academic monitoring systems to support student-athlete success.

  • Liaise with faculty, advisors, and student support services to enhance retention and graduation rates.

  • Provide regular academic progress reports to coaches and administrators.

Recruiting Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with NCAA and conference recruiting guidelines.

  • Support coaches in recruiting strategies, data management, and prospective student-athlete evaluations.

  • Track and monitor recruiting activities for all sports.

Game Day & Event Management

  • Provide oversight for select home athletic events and act as game administrator when assigned.

  • Assist with the preparation, staffing, and execution of game day operations.

  • Support the development and enforcement of emergency action and risk management plans.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with the Sports Information Director, Head Athletic Trainer, and Administrative Assistant to ensure smooth daily operations.

  • Serve as a visible campus leader supporting student-athletes' personal growth and leadership development.

  • Represent the department on institutional committees as assigned.


Additional Information:

  • The salary range for this position is $57,151 - $60,000.

  • This is a term, full-time position.

  • Evening and weekend work required for compliance, recruiting, and game management responsibilities.

  • Position to begin February 2026.
