Position Overview:
Southwestern University has an immediate opening for a Assistant Track & Field Coach. This position will report to the Head Track & Field Coach. The Assistant Track & Field Coach is responsible for supporting the comprehensive development of student-athletes through effective coaching, mentorship, and leadership. This position will contribute to the overall success of a competitive athletics program by providing expert guidance in training, recruitment, and student-athlete development. This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position eligible for our comprehensive benefits program.
Essential Duties:
Deliver high-quality skill instruction and conditioning programs aligned with the standards of a successful NCAA Division III track & field program.
Identify, recruit, and retain student-athletes who demonstrate both athletic talent and academic excellence to thrive at SU.
Actively participate in fundraising initiatives that support the goals and needs of the track & field program.
Ensure adherence to all institutional, conference, and NCAA rules, regulations, and policies. Serve as a positive role model and mentor, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and high ethical standards. Support classroom excellent by utilizing all available university resources in support of students.
Additional Duties:
Serve as an Administrator in Charge (AIC) for designated athletic events throughout the year.
Contribute to campus life by participating in university committees as assigned.
Teach courses in ESS FRA, if appropriately qualified.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Proven experience in coaching and ability to demonstrate proper techniques unique to the sport
CPR and First Aid or a willingness to become certified within three months of hire
Have knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and the diversity within the campus and community.
Preferred Qualifications:
Collegiate or professional playing experience in the sport
Experience in recruiting college-level varsity athletes
