Responsible for evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for student-athletes. Communicate and collaborate with team physician(s), athletic trainers, medical specialists, coaches, sports nutritionist, mental health personnel, sports performance staff, and sport administrators regarding the status of student-athletes injuries and recommendations. Work with athletic health care personnel to maximize care and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses to student-athletes. Document all athletic health care activities with appropriate medical record keeping methods. Responsible for advising the Head Athletic Trainer on the sports medicine program policies and procedures to ensure the best care for student-athletes. Responsible for advising the Head Athletic Trainer on insurance/medical issues related to sports participation and care of athletic injuries. Evaluates athletic facilities for safety, provides feedback for potential safety problems to the Head Athletic Trainer. Provides injury reports to appropriate University and insurance personnel. Demonstrates concern for the health, safety, and welfare of each student-athlete. Additional duties as assigned. Comply with University, Conference and NCAA Division I rules and regulations.
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred;
- Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (continuing education units required);
- Licensure by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation (continuing education units required);
- Current CPR for Professional Rescuer/Basic Life Support certification;
- Strong communication and organizational skills;
- Demonstrated crisis management skills; and
- Working understanding of computers, including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
