The Associate Director of Athletic Operations primary responsibilities include overall management of the Pete Maravich Assembly Center (PMAC) including but not limited to staffing, event and facility management, construction, purchasing, policy administration, booking, budget, security, and related operations.
VENUE MANAGEMENT - Coordinates maintenance issues and determine the need of maintenance or repairs. Oversees improvements including regular inspections for cleanliness, orderliness, maintenance, safety and ease of passage. Helps in the preparation of required work orders in coordination with Accounting and Budgeting groups to maintain financial and budget records as well as prioritize, track progress and communicate with coaches and staff concerning work. Manages the maintenance of general supply inventory, and equipment storage including organization and maintaining storage. Serves as after-hours contact. As needed, develops and oversees progress against high-level work plans, schedules, and budgets for large projects.
EVENT/GAME DAY MANAGEMENT - Responsible for leading and/or assisting game-day venue management including set-up and breakdown of assigned athletic events. Serves as “on-call” venue manager for assigned athletic events, assisting with venue-related in-game management. Ensures venue is prepared for practice, competitions, and other scheduled activities. Assists with special events, as needed. Primary Game Manager for Men’s Basketball.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate in planning and execution of events including, but not limited to, women’s basketball, gymnastics and volleyball events, meetings, banquets, holiday parties, concerts and graduations. Assist as liaison between internal departments and external clients. Attend departmental and building meetings. Maintains continual and thorough familiarity with all applicable NCAA, SEC and University rules and regulations. Responsible for recruiting, training, supervising and evaluating professional, civil service and student staff. Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules and regulations for all staff members and student workers supervised.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management or related field with three (3) years of experience in arena or stadium facility management; Individuals who do not possess a four year degree or a degree in the specific/related discipline, but who otherwise possess extraordinary credentials or experience may also be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFACATIONS:
Masters degree in Sport Management of related field; Four (4) years of relevant experience at the NCAA Division I level; Proficiency using EMS facility and event scheduling software and Sling employee scheduling software
SPECIAL OR PHYICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, holidays and extended hours. Job requires occasional lifting of objects up to 50 lbs.; In accordance with University PS-18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure; Pre-employment physical is required.
