About Us

Colorado College (“CC”) is a private, four-year, highly selective liberal arts college of 2,100 undergraduate students and a small Master of Arts in teaching program. It is located on a 99-acre campus adjacent to downtown, ‘Olympic City’, Colorado Springs. The campus sits on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains at the foot of Pikes Peak. The college operates an innovative curricular approach, known as the Block Plan, which entails students taking one course at a time for three and a half weeks, with the academic year divided into eight “blocks.” The Colorado College Department of Athletics sponsors 17 varsity programs. Fifteen programs compete at the NCAA Division III level and two at the Division I level. Division III programs are members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), except for Men’s Lacrosse (independent) and Women’s Lacrosse (WIAC affiliate). Division I Men’s Hockey is a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) and Division I Women’s Soccer competes as an affiliate member of the Mountain West Conference (MWC).

Job Summary

Oversees the NCAA compliance approach for a highly competitive multidivision institution. Plans for, directs and enforces the division’s compliance with NCAA, Conference, and college rules and regulations and oversees the coordination and implementation of a holistic student-athlete support program including coordinating on campus resources and strategies conducive to the academic, athletic and personal development of the student-athletes.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to strategic and day-to-day management of NCAA compliance (Division I and Division III), oversight and management of the division’s student-athlete services program, liaison to key campus offices, sport oversight, and support of areas including events, facilities and budget management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic leader, planner and communicator as it relates to changing NCAA and conference office rules.

  • Manage day-to-day responsibilities of NCAA compliance, including monitoring recruiting activities, eligibility, financial aid, amateurism, and adherence to playing and practice season rules. This includes providing timely interpretations of NCAA, conference and college rules to coaches and staff.

  • Provide excellent service to student-athletes, coaches, and institutional staff members. Maintain compliance with all NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations and for providing support, guidance, and leadership to Colorado College student-athletes.

  • Compile data and prepare all regular reports as required by the NCAA and the federal government.

  • Plan, coordinate and implement a holistic student-athlete support model and programs that connect to campus resources.

  • Serve as the department’s liaison to the registrar, advising hub, admissions and financial aid offices to ensure that the activities of these offices are current and congruent with the rules and regulations of the NCAA.

  • Oversee and establish effective communication and planning between the Admission Office and coaching staff.

  • Serve as Co-advisor for Student-Athletic Advisory Committee.

  • Serve as liaison with residential life and dining to coordinate plans during vacation and holiday break periods.

  • Provide oversight of designated sport programs.

  • Supervise the Director of Business Operations and serve on the divisional budget committee.

  • Supervise the Assistant Athletic Director, Operations and assist with championship event coordination where needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of three years of experience in athletic administration and NCAA compliance; experience supervising/managing full-time employees; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to think critically and solve problems; good judgment and ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion; proven ability to develop strong working relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socio-economic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity; budgetary and organizational skills, and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with initiative and minimal supervision; excellent organizational and service leadership skills; proficient with computer software programs such as Word, Excel, Teams, Power Point. Must be willing and available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends and occasional travel with designated teams.

  • Master’s degree.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $73,165 to $85,000 per year
