EXTERNAL AFFAIRS AND MARKETING

The Atlantic 10 Conference is accepting applications for the Assistant Commissioner for External Affairs and Marketing. This is a full-time senior position reporting to the Senior Associate Commissioner/Chief of Staff with oversight of all marketing, branding and championship ticket sales and strategy.   

Specific Responsibilities: 

1.      Oversight, implementation and evaluation of all aspects of ticketing for all ticketed championships with a focus on men’s and women’s basketball.   This includes ticketing- digital strategies, primary and secondary markets, demand valuation, long and short-term financial projections. Maximizing revenue, increasing public ticket sales and overall attendance is a top priority. 

2.      Oversight and management of the Multi-Media Rights (MMR) holder and assigned general manager, to include weekly meetings, coordination of sponsor development packages, supervise adherence to terms of contract, adherence to sponsor use of A-10 marks, implementation of sponsor promotions and advertising, updates of contracts and approval of pitches developed for potential conference partners. Facilitate the annual financial reconciliation with the MMR and the conference business office. 

3.      Oversight and liaison to the conference marketing committee comprised of marketing representatives from the 14 member schools. Provide leadership and guidance to include staffing monthly conference calls, frequent communication memorandums, benchmarking strategies, specific campaigns (ie-50th Anniversary Celebration in 2025-26) and implementation of marketing, ticket sales and branding commercials. 

4.      Work closely with Communications and Advanced Media staff to create and implement an overarching communications and public relations strategies to optimize Atlantic 10 visibility.  Develop effective evaluation tools/processes to benchmark the A-10 effectiveness in all marketing and communications plans. Coordination of conference brand and ideation “look” for all external signage, apparel, graphics, invitations, special awards, congratulatory advertisements, etc. 

5.      Oversee, monitor, evaluate and grow conference partnerships (i.e. – Nexus, Under Armour, Spalding) to ensure maximum exposure for the A-10.  This includes approval of all apparel, gear, gifts, awards and merchandise bearing any A-10 marks.  In addition, communication of the A-10 logo usage policies to membership on an annual basis, monitoring all required brand activation with membership, uniform logos, in arena, stadium, campus signage, media partner signage placement during events as required by partner contracts. 

6.      Coordinate, enhance and expand the A-10 merchandise program and online store to increase and maximize sales/revenues for the conference.   

7.      Responsible for all external auxiliary A-10 events, celebrations, promotional activities, including but not limited to, media day luncheons, conference receptions, honor and award events.

8.      Work closely with Championships staff to oversee, order and execute all conference awards, trophies and special mementos.

Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) with at least 5 (five) years of experience in athletic, corporate, and/or professional ticketing and marketing.  The successful candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Nontraditional work hours, travel and continuing education expected. The position is based out of the Washington, D.C. A-10 office.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
