What to Expect
The Associate Athletics Director, Compliance provides oversight, leadership, and supervision of the compliance services staff and is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of compliance policies, procedures, systems, and strategies. This position will also advocate for the United States Military Academy (“USMA”) and Army West Point Athletic Association Inc. (“AWPAA”) within the changing landscape of Division I and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (“NCAA”) governance process. This position is a member of the Athletics Director’s Executive Staff and may serve as a sport administrator.
What You'll Do
70% Policy, Governance and Institutional Control
Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of compliance systems necessary to support all USMA, Patriot League/affiliate conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Advocate on behalf of USMA within the changing landscape of Division I and the NCAA governance process. Responsible for the tracking and submission of NCAA legislation and interpretations, processing waivers, and administering rules violations investigations.
Provide leadership to the department relative to education, monitoring, enforcement, and maintenance of an NCAA compliant department.
Conduct meetings with all teams periodically to educate cadet-athletes on key NCAA and conference rules and regulations.
Prepare, conduct, and assess components of regular compliance educational sessions/communications for the department of athletics as well as other institutional entities responsible for institutional control.
Consult as necessary with the Director of Athletics’ senior leadership team and other institutional units and entities.
Assist with and ensure accurate completion of required NCAA, Conference, and any other federal reports.
25% Personnel & Administrative
Recruit, retain and supervise two full-time compliance positions to assist with meeting all duties and requirements.
Conduct a variety of personnel actions to include but not limited to hiring, promotion, performance management, and dismissal.
Make budgetary recommendations/proposals based on resource needs and ensure cost containment.
Serve as a sport administrator, overseeing and providing leadership to assigned coach(es). Attend and participate in Sport AD meetings providing leadership and rules education for sport administrator group.
5% Other Duties
Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or the Director of Athletics.
What We Can Offer
$80,000 - $110,000
This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries that AWPAA believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted position. AWPAA expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would AWPAA consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
